The MAX521BEWG+ is an octal, 8bit voltage output digital to analogue converter (DAC) with simple 2-wire serial interface in 24 pin WSOIC package. The 2-wire serial interfaces allow communication between multiple devices. It operates from single +5V supply and its reference input range includes both supply rails. The MAX521 includes rail to rail output buffer amplifiers for reduced system size and component count when driving loads. It has serial interface and internal software protocol which communicates at data rates up to 400Kbps. The interface combined with double buffered input configuration allows DAC registers to be updated individually or simultaneously. The device can be put into low power shutdown mode that reduces supply current to 4μA. Power-on reset ensures DAC outputs are at 0V when power is initially applied. It is used in minimum component analogue systems, digital offset/gain adjustment, automatic test equipment and programmable attenuators.
