The MCP2515DM-PTPLS is a simple Controller Area Network(CAN). The MCP2515 PICtail Plus daughter board designed to be used with boards containing the PICtail Plus connector. The board has PICkit Serial connector for interfacing to PICkit Serial Analyzer tool. The CAN node consists of the MCP2515 stand slone CAN controller that implements CAN specification, version 2.0B which is capable of transmitting and receiving both standard and extended data and remote frames. And MCP2551 a high speed CAN transceiver which is fault tolerant device that serves as interface between a CAN protocol controller and physical bus. The MCP2551 device provide differential transmit and receive capability for the CAN protocol controller. The PICkit Plus and PICkit Serial connectors allow the board to be interfaced to a variety of PICmicros so that the user can develop a CAN node. The board also contains headers or test points for most of MCP2515 pins to allow the external functions to be monitored/evaluated.
