ADM242ANZ

ADM242ANZ is a high-speed RS-232 line driver/receiver offering transmission rates upto 200kB/s. Operating from a single 5V power supply, a highly efficient on-chip charge pump using small (0.1µF) external capacitors allows RS-232 bipolar levels to be developed. Two RS-232 drivers and two RS-232 receivers are provided on each device. This device is fabricated on BiCMOS, an advanced mixed technology process that combines low-power CMOS with high-speed bipolar circuitry. This allows for transmission rates up to 200kB/s, yet minimizes the quiescent power supply current to under 5mA. It is used in applications such as computers, peripherals, modems, printers, and instruments.

• Output resistance is 300 ohm typical at (VCC = V+ = V– = 0 V, VOUT = ±2V)
• Power supply current is 4mA typical at (VCC = 5V ±10%. C1–C4 = 0.1µF)
• Transition region slew rate is 8V/µs typical at (CL = 50pF to 1000pF, RL = 3Kohm to 7Kohm)
• Transmitter propagation delay TTL to RS-232 is 3.5µs maximum at (VCC = 5V)
• Shutdown power supply current 0.1µA typical at (VCC = 5V ±10%. C1–C4 = 0.1µF)
• Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
• 18-lead plastic dual in-line package [PDIP]
